The ill-fated "Battlestar Galactica Technical Journal" was created for Realm Press by Kenneth Thomson Jr. and Mike McAdams with a foreward by Dr. Kevin Grazier. Mike isn't interested in posting his portion of the book, but since it has been more than two years and has gone nowhere, I have decided to post my portion of the Technical Journal for all to see and enjoy. I've already been paid for the work, now let's all enjoy it. You can see some Mike's work on the cover image, and perhaps on his website at some future point. He was responsible for the Galactica, the vipers and many other highly detailed pieces of artwork from within the Galactica's engine room, landing bays and internal transport systems. My images are strictly of the bridge of the Battlestar, and they were constructed from scratch for the Technical Journal. We set our Tech Journal ten yahrens after the final episode of the series, "Hand of God," after some upgrades were performed to the ship, most of which were minor. As some of the models were used in Richard Hatch's "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" trailer and reflected the passage of twenty yahren's in space, we had to bring the ship closer to detail in the original show than it was for the trailer. In the trailer, the Galactica had new chin guns and a third small bay added under the main hull. In this TJ, it was under construction.
The bridge is somewhat updated from the original. For instance, I used the latest Techtronics equipment to replace the original techtronics equipment and small touches like that. There are more "nernies" on the bridge as well. Each image took approximately 45 minutes to render in full-print resolution on a 400 mhz pentium 2 and were created in 3ds Max 2.5.
